Work vs. Hobby
A lot of times, creatives do the dance of navigating whether their activity is deemed a creative work or a creative hobby. I have been very keen on allowing my photo work to be of high value to not only others, but primarily for myself – my own imagination, therapy, and soul. It feels emotionally medicating to bring a thought from my mind to a physical item. Bringing art into fruition truly feeds and fuels me, at the same time, it gives others a service, whether it’s functional or inspirational. I do not call it just work nor do I call it just a hobby. It’s both. It’s my work and my hobby, it just happens to truly acts as emotional healthy food for me.
This collaborative photoshoot you’ll see below was not for money. It did not bring in any dollar bills into my pockets, but what it did was finally feed and fuel me in a way than many of the gigs I’ve been able to work over the past 6 months. It came in a time that hit me, and I am blessed to have done it.
